The redesign the our team did for the committee of wonderful lawyers and administrators at the law firm of Hill Ward Henderson was one of the most beautifully crafted websites we’ve ever put together at Mercury New Media. Not only does it look nice, but it’s a responsive design and packed with features for both the desktop and smartphone!

HIGHLIGHTING:

Plan & Sketch Process

Vital to any successful design is the planning and sketching phase. Doing this provides the first global view of what the site will look like and how the user will interact with it. Primary features of the site started here, such as attorney search, resource center, navigation, and landing page layout.

Once the design and plan was perfected and approved, then began the process of building the site for the first time. In this phase, we do things like adding content and crafting ideas to present that content to the users. This is the meat and potatoes of the site. Important features get added, we add headlines and body copy content, and we test in all browsers. There's a bunch of other really important stuff that happens here, but we won't bore you with the geeky details. Suffice it to say that we are crossing our T's and dotting our I's.

Take a look and see how the site began with sketches, then went into wireframes, first draft, and final site. It should give you an idea of how it all comes together.

Now Make it Responsive

Magical code. Makes site flexible. Clients love it.

Designing a responsive site allows you to access the website from any computer or mobile device and delivers while optimized experience. Another great benefit is that it makes site management a breeze because clients only have to make edits in one place to see the change get rendered across all devices. Responsive design is becoming essential and popular all around the world wide web. In fact, this page you are looking at now is built to be responsive. Take a look!

Smartphone Devices

With so many smartphones on the market today, more and more people need and expect websites look nice on their phone. As the case with Hill Ward Henderson, we spent precious time crafting the site and tweaking code to get a nice optimized website with the full features you would see on a desktop computer, including the Attorney Search and Industry/Practice Search.

Tablet Devices

Just like we optimized the site for the phone, we took special care to optimize the site for tablets. With much more real estate to work with, we were able to keep the "desktop look" with subtle changes to fully enable the user to use the Touch features of the device.

HIGHLIGHTING:

Careers Section

One of the primary goals of the site was to emphasize how great the job opportunities are at the law firm, and encourage users to learn more about the company and what it would be like to work there. Our team met the challenge with visual emphasis on important text, creating a job display feature, and providing potential candidates with a nice feature to upload their résumés.

Visual Text Emphasis

Career Hotspot 1
Through conversations with the client, it was apparent that we emphasize important captions and blockquotes. The executed design displays the text at a large point size styled with the client’s brand standard red.
Visual Text Emphasis 3

Job Search

Career Hotspot 2
To help site users learn more about the career opportunities are available at Hill Ward Henderson, we created an elegant list of job openings that is fully manageable in the administration panel.

We added to a great user experience by expediting the interview process by allowing interested job candidates upload their résumés and have it populate immediately in career administrator’s inbox.
